From: TRILLINOIS....WAY downtown, jerky.
Inspect it first like Tony said.
But...one of the bushings that's hard to see/inspect is the most likely one that failed, however lol. Its the pivot bearing/bushing that is located where the single bolt goes through the shifter and linkage.
If it failed, buying a new shifter is your best bet. If you want to stick with a short throw, Skunk2 makes a nice piece. It has a really nice pivot bearing/bushing setup. The B&M shifter felt nice to me as well.
Those are your best D series options since an Integra shifter won't work properly with a D linkage.
Don't buy cheap shifters for $20.

I've never had the pivot bushing fail. I've had multiple shifter bushings fail. The two main ones are the isolator bushing behind the shifter (two bolts into the chassis, shifter bar goes through the bushing) and the bushing where the isolator attaches to the transmission. Start with those, work from there.

don't forget the mounting bushings for the shift rod stabilizer. If you're going to be replacing things.. I replaced mine with polyurethane, no more rubber rot! I did go with honda's oem rubber for the shifter rod though.. So it's quiet and stablized now. But I agree with everyone else, you have to inspect it first to know what you need to fix. Over the life of the civic those shifter bushings only last about a decade.. yup had the car that long!
