Default Shaking at first gear

Good evening honda tech. My 96 civic cx has a problem when I'm in first gear and slowly letting go of the clutch and accelerating, the car starts to shake and it feels sluggish to when it goes but 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th are fine it's just 1st. Remind you that I just put in a new clutch and transmission. Can someone have any idea why it's causing it to lose power then slowly move the car. I was thinking it can be the wires, distributior, and plugs but before I change those parts has anyone experienced this issue?

Well...if we're ruling out driving technique, clutch adjustment (as related to driving technique), and other factors like having the AC on...

Shaking:
-you have hotspots on your flywheel because you didn't resurface it.
-you have oil or grease on the flywheel or pressure plate surface.

Loss of power:
-you turned the motor clockwise while trying to loosen/tighten some bolts and jumped a tooth on the timing belt.

New transmission... 99% of time you mean used..

Did you check input shaft play? ***** old now, most input shaft bearings are toast and need replaced.

Just did a tune up on it. It stopped the shaking but still no torque in first gear and yes it's a used tranny I checked shaft it is fine

I believe it is the timing because when I put the new clutch in it started to turn while I was torquing it

It doesn't matter if the crank/flywheel moves. As long as you didn't unbolt the distributor, timing should be unaffected

What type (brand) of clutch did you put in?

Cam timing. If the motor is rotated backwards with either an old belt or old tensioner/spring, it can skip timing.

I will buy that. But, I would also consider that a less likely possibility. But thats me. None the less, it should be checked.

There's a reason the FSM specifically states that the motor should only ever be turned one direction.

Its actually a more common phenomenon than you'd think. Happens on chain cars as well.

Same scenerio as b series, point cam to tdc and crank, make sure belt didn't skip teeth. Then use a timing light to sync the marks on the crank pully with the timing mark/notch on the timing case

Eh...you may not be able to adjust that duralast clutch properly. For future reference, an exedy B series oe replacement is like $120 on rockauto or ebay.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the clutch is bad. I've never had good luck with over the counter store brand clutches. Like stated above stick with Exedy and either have your flywheel resurfaced or replace it.
