I am working on a 09 accord and it is shaking like crazy, engine light on and all. the Honda dealership diagnosed it as a torque conversion sensor?


I was told that a spark plug needed replaced and I pulled them all and they are all oil fowled.


the auto parts store diagnosed that cylinder 1 had a fault and wasn't firing. when I pulled that plug it was disgustingly black with oil.


what does this sound like? I am leaning towards bad valve seals.

it could be something as simple as a faulty plug or a bad ignitor.

 

I replaced all 6 plugs yesterday to see if that was the problem. The engine light is still on and slight shaking. All the old plugs were covered in oil.

Yes I would check the Coils - the car has a "Coil on plug" (COP) set up. What I would do is pull the connector from one coil at a time.

With the car/wngine to normal op temp, pull one connector at a time and listen for the idle to change. If the idle changes, plug that one back in and move to the next. If you unplug one and the odle doesn't change, that is a sing that coil has gone bad and needs to be replaced.

 

If your 2009 is a V6 with AT, and has misfire DTC P301 through P304, you probably can be covered under the powertrain warranty extension as a result of a settlement of a class action. The warranty extension does not apply to any vehicle that has ever been declared a total loss or sold for salvage by a financial institution or insurer, or has a branded or similar title under any state’s law. The extension is 8 years with unlimited mileage from the original date of purchase.

The piston rings on certain cylinders may rotate and align which can lead to spark plug fouling. This can set DTCs P0301 through P0304 and cause the MIL to come on.
