I mean why not paint the valve cover a nice color. You can actually see that. And it looks like you didn't even take your time OP the spray went everywhere very sloppy.

I've got the oilpan coated with bedliner, so i thought it'd be cool if the covers matched and were black. I think i'm going to sand up timing covers, when i finally get em, and paint those black too. Intake is green, header is prolly gonna get painted black too.
working on it, i nicked it a couple times so i went back and sprayed over it without masking everything. I'm going to take the water tube / thermo housing back off and paint it black again, and tape off the block and do the valve cover again in black.
I think i'll make the transmission green, and black for all the mounts.
Nah, my electrical tape racing stripe sorta went south so I peeled it off. I want something that won't look quite that crappy, im thinking about upgrading to duct tape but really id like to mask off, sand, paint and clear a nicer racing stripe that matchs the motor and suspension
I had painted my block back in 2008. As long as you have prepped it and used the correct type of paint it won't flake off. With that said, it's not the easiest thing to keep clean and over the years it has lost it's shine so keep that in mind. Once it's exposed to road grime it's not gonna look so cool.

My block (it's still in my car to this day).
that looks nice, man. and i had my engine primed by the builder and then followed the instructions on the can carefully to spray the green on. I figure, as long as i keep brake fluid away from it, it'l be okay.
i gotta give you some props most of the honda kids these can't even manage to take off a valve cover, but looks like your engine is in a stands, good job

thank you. putting the valve covers back on is the harder part, those threads strip so easily.
