97 Accord A/C problems - Please Help!
I bought a 97 Honda Accord as a fixer upper for my daughter. She won't be driving for awhile so it has been sitting idle for a few months. The A/C was working when I bought it, but now it's not. I replaced the condenser fuse under the hood and the blower motor relay under the dash. Same results - the lights on the control panel work, but nothing engages when the A/C is switched on. Suggestions?
Does the compressor engage when you press the button? You can look on the compressor wheel, it will free-wheel when the A/C is of. When it is turned ON, the wheel locks up and spins. You can see the pully start to turn. If the compressor is not coming on, then you need to start figuring out why it is not coming on. The most common reason is low refrigerant. It can have a leak, where the refrigerant leaks out over time.

The lines are frozen white when I have the AC turned on, but again nothing engages or blows out of the vents. What could that be?
Yeah, youll need to know if the compressor is engaging or not. It sounds like it is, due to the lines freezing up. It may just be the evaporator blower motor isnt working. Thats the blower that blows air across the evaporator and out the vents. To check it, you can unlpug it, and check for 12V. if yes...then motor bad. If no, then its an electrical issue...possible fuse...etc.
