Default Help With Speed Sensor

Hello!

I am looking for some advice on my 1997 Civic LX manual transmission speed sensor problem. The speedometer stopped working continuously and I replaced the VSS but the problem remains. The speedometer will work here and there and it usually takes several miles of driving before it will kick in (if it does at all). I am wondering if I need to replace the plug and wires or are the "teeth" on the VSS a problem. I am very much a novice at working on cars but I am learning as I go. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for replying Ron. I hate to say it but I am feeling dumber than a novice right now. I am not sure what CEL codes are and what to do about the fuse. Sorry but thank you again for your help!
