Default Help 2001 Accord

Hello guys. I need some advice. Bit of back story... I Have a 2001 Accord. It's old but my dad gave me the car when I was 16yo so it holds such a high sentimental value to me lol. Anyway, I had a TSX so the Honda was sitting in my parents garage for a while. I was in an accident and totaled the TSX and now I'm driving the Honda. The problem is that the alarm stopped working and someone tried to steal the Honda last night Nothing is 100% thieft proof and I plan of fixing the alarm but is there anything else I can add? This is were I need some advice. Would it be a good idea to install a pump fuel kill switch? If so, it sound kind of complicated so would it be best for a mechanic to install it? Any advice would be much appreciated and thanks in advance.

You can get a club. It's not going to prevent a pro from stealing it but combined with an alarm it works great.

two way paging alarms are the best

There is a chip in the key that "talks" to the PCM, so without the key....it is not going to start. So there went ~90% of the "joy riders"

Do I need a mechanic to install it? I may come off as stupid lol but I'm not car savvy. I'm trying to google what I don't know or understand but I thought I'd just come on here and ask. I also don't want to go to a mechanic and get ripped off

Would you happen to know of a good brand thats not so pricey? I want an expensive one but my budget says NO! So maybe I can purchase a 2 way alarm and have a mechanic install it?

What was referred to is the transponder chip in the key, that your car already has, which is part of Honda's Immobilizer System.

There is still 100% stupid out there and they just see a " '90s Honda" and still futz it up thinking they can steal it quickly.

I'm with Holmesmanny get a Club for the car, back that up with an Autolock as well.

A simple hidden kill switch for the starter and/or fuel pump will keep the car from moving.
