Default Part came off undercarriage of 2012 CRV, What is it?

When I was driving on the highway I noticed a grinding noise under the car so I pulled over and checked for anything. Under the car, in the towards the front of the car between the axles and middle of the car an aluminum piece was hanging and touching the ground. It was attached by screws to a large piece of rubber. It looks like one of the edges started to erode during the winter and came of after the car might have hit a rock. Anyways, I bent the part up to keep it from dragging and went back home. When I went home I cut it off.

Any ideas of what this part is and it's significance.

Thanks for the help,

It is an under cover for access to change the engine oil and filter.

Looks like you need to pay your most recent oil changer a visit.
