so i got a random misfire code and tracked it down to the egr valve when its blocked from vaccum i no longer get the random misfire code that happens when cruising highway speeds around 1800-3000 rpm so i went out and bought a new one thinking this was the issue but nope still get the misfire i tried unplugging the vaccum control solenoid and that stops the random misfire also and i just get an insufficient lift code for my egr valve is it possible that it is dirty or stuck open causing the egr to open to much never dealt with this kind of issue anyone out there with similar issues who have solved this mystery?

 

EGR port in the engine could be clogged. To properly clean it your going to have to take the intake off and clean it from that side too.

What specific code is it throwing?

 

The 5th gen 4 cyl's have a very nice little plate you can remove and clean the ports.....the intake does not have to come off.

it throws p0300 and p0301 for cylinder one i believe but egr block off solves this ill attempt to clean out this port hopefully at some point today to see if i get results
