Default d17a1 to d17a2

just to clarify for myself.
Im currently hung for a new engine for a 2002 civic dx(d17a1)
d17a2 seems to be a lot easier to find, but the vote solenoid won't be activated if i swap this, if i get a vafc2 will i need the edu and wire harness as well or does this bypass that?

You may want to look through the FAQ's. There's a thread on VTEC head swaps, and the procedure (for the most part) requires the same thing electronically.
