Default My 82x89 GS-R

Just thought i'd share my setup. I got the longblock in a trade from a friend awhile back so i'm not 100% sure on compression. Gonna do a compression test soon and see what I get. I had to freshen it up so found out some about it while doing so.

Block:
Wiseco Pistons (builder says 12.8:1)
Eagle rods
LS crank
Balanced rotating assembly with CTR N1 crank pulley

Head:
port and polished B16 head (194cc)
Skunk2 valvetrain with Tuner2 cams
Skunk2 Ultra street manilfold with .5L spacer (cleaned up but not ported)
Skunk2 68mm TB (just had it laying around)
3" intake with velocity stack
Skunk2 composite fuel rail with Grams 750cc injectors and 255lph pump

I'm running an old Spark Racing header with custom 2.5" exhaust.

The car put down 218/146 in January on a dynojet with 440's and no manifold spacer. I decided to go flex fuel so I put in the 750's and spacer and put down 220/159 on a mustang dyno in the heat of july with 60% ethanol.
I took it to the track tonight on 73% ethanol and ran 13.3@105 on street tires. Need to get the ethanol percentage up some and go back on slicks for more passes. Might wait for it to cool down a little though.

Nice numbers! Congrats on the build. I bet with slicks, you just miiight be able to beat that pony car.

No concerns about the non damping of the ctr n1 pulley?

Probably so on that pass although he did misshift. lol

Nah, my friend was running one on this motor for awhile with no issues, plus I had one on my previous setup with no prolems. Are they known to have issues?

SUPPOSEDLY, they have been linked to oil pump failures due to no rubber ring built in to dampen(?) crankshaft harmonics. The crankshaft harmonics/vibrations are said to cause bolts to back out from either the crank pulley or flywheel ends, and/or sometimes oil pump gears shattering. Not trying to scare you, Its just something Ive always heard/read on here.

yeah i have also heard many a not good thing about that n1 pulley.

so how did those primarys on those tuner2's like 12.8:1 on pump gas before you increased your ethanol ?

i just did an 82x89mm vtec motor but at 11:1. it was nice and had a broad powerband

The car seemed to run pretty well on pump gas.

Thanks! Launching around 3500 rpm and running 195/60-14 falkens. Good autocross tires but not so great at the dragstrip. Lol

I was able to cut a 2.1 60 ft with falken ziex ze950 a/s 195-50-15 launching at about 3000 rpm and ran a 13.47@103.75, any rpm higher then that was severe wheelhop killing my 60ft time.
Are you gonna go with drag slicks? id love to see what how much it would cut off your et.

Interesting, talking with DDTECH who is not my tuner, he also recomended +1 - +3 IN and -2 - -4 EX , They like overlap which is why i dont understand Skunk 2's quick cam settings which are -1 IN and +4.5 EX. This is what there tech told me over and over again but i think it should be the other way around or something or am i missing something? Either way i will leave it at 0 and let the tuner adust it while hes tuning it.

Yeah, hoping to get back out with some slicks when it cools down a little.

Yeah, that's the same way I did it. Rolled around with them at 0 for a little while. When we tried to go -1 on the exhaust, we immediately lost power. Maybe their quick settings work better with stock compression, not sure.

If he did that he'd be trading his top end for low/midrange. Pro 2's should do the trick! 😊

The Ultra lineup is a BIG lineup......

I'll be guinea pigging some Ultra 1's in the next couple weeks though

I'm considering switching to some ultras but it probably won't be till next year. This car sees mainly street driving as well so I don't wanna do anything too aggressive. Just gonna try to get in some seat time and see how fast I can make this setup go. I know there's a lot of room for improvement with the motor once I max out at the track.

Ultra 1's are damn near a Pro3...big ***. Haha.

Thats a damn healthy motor you have. Some slicks and seat time will put you into the 12's for sure. Been a fan of your car for a minute.
