Default I want to find an LSD tranny

I have a b20b out of a 2001 CR-V swapped into my 1987 Honda Civic Hatch with a YS1 cable transmission. It is a peg leg, and it has bad synchros between 1-2 and 2-3. If I granny shift slowly, it doesn't grind, but I can't speed shift on the track. Rather than replace the synchros, I'd rather just get a LSD transmission. What I need to know is, "What kind of tranny should I look for? and Will it work with the stage 3 clutch I have already on the YS1?"

Just get an MFactory LSD and fix whatever else is wrong with the transmission.

Whenever I tell people I have a ys1 tranny, they say, "Oh, it would be quicker if you had a >>>>>>>. But I don't remember what they said after that because I didn't even want to think about spending more money, but now I see it is messed up I need to.

The YS1 is essentially a hydro tranny in a cable case. You can literally pick up a hydro B-series trans and swap cases. This is great since you don't need to deal with a cable to hydro conversion. You do however need to shim the mainshaft and diff. The bigger issue is most of the time when you buy a B-series transmission at this point it's going to need parts anyway. You can almost count on replacing the 3rd/4th hub and sleeve in whatever you get. 1st/2nd is often bad as well. Which YS1 trans do you have? They came in both a B17 GS-R version and an LS version.

solid advice right there. i just picked up a shim myself (80mm diff) from majestic it was like 7 bucks each. ls hydro trannys still seem to go for pretty cheap getting one and swapping cases is a good idea. and as said, its not always the syncro often the hub gets worn and has grooves in it and the ends of the teeth on the slider develop a lip that catches. you can sand it off but the hub is still grooved up...

mfactory lsd is great ive had one for years now never had any issues

Thank You. I'm going to look at the engine and trans really close today and see what everything is. I need to get the head looked at(pretty sure I blew the gasket). the engine to make I was told it was a b20b, but when ordering parts all I see is b20z(?), and the trans. so I can know exactly what it is. It sucks that I just got a new ecu and distributor, and then the head goes bad. I could have done the vtec conversion and got the right distributor and ecu for that. I'd like to find a shop here in the Tampa area that would reduce the cost and take the new parts I just bought.
