2002 honda accord issues
Hello all,
I have a 2002 honda accord lx 4cyl. About a week ago the check engine light came on. It seems to come on and go off every other day or so. While the check engine light is on the car idles a little low. Also when you give it gas sometimes the car gets a little jerky until you let off the accelerator. I ran diagnostics on it and got a p1386 error. The information i found for that was a CYP sensor B intermittent interruption. I know it was close to the time anyway so i went ahead and did a full tune up. Drove right for roughly 30 miles then started doin the same thing. Everything i had read so far suggests the distributor is going out. But before i do that i want to make sure im not overlooking something else? All help is greatly appreciated

Depending on which engine you have there is a slight difference, but the sensor should have 800-1500Ω. If the sensor is fine cold, verify the wiring connections are clean and tight all the way back to the PCM. Then drive the car and when the CEL happens take note of when(if) it occurs, is the car going up/down a hill turning left/right etc. This could indicate a causation. If the distributor has an internal oil leak, hot oil can permeate and damage the sensors. If no leak then it may simply be a heat soak issue and the sensor needs to be replaced.
Hey thanks for the reply. Im not sure about the specifics on the engine to be honest. But it doesnt seem to have any consistency on when it decides to act up other than every other day or so at random times. When i changed the rotor and distributor cap there was no oil present. From my understanding you can't buy the sensor separate you have to get a new distributor? Anyway thanks again for your help
