I can never get a straight answer with this question. Does an engine swap from a Base (h22a4) to a type s (h22a) require engine bay fabr.? Or can I just slip it in with the correct engine mounts?

A true Type-S Prelude generally had ATTS, so although there is no engine bay fabrication, you would need a whole bunch of other stuff for it to work, since the ATTS system uses sensors all over the vehicle, a different ecu and control unit, etc.

If you just want to swap in a japanese spec H22 for a US spec, with a base tranny and no ATTS, then there should be no issues, just a straight swap, as long as you pay atention to any sensors and such in regards to the obd status of the car and engine.
