Default P0741 code on Honda Accord 2006 V6 transmission

Hi there, I have a Honda Accord 2006 EX V-6 (automatic) with 111,000 miles on it. My check engine light came on and I checked the code and it was a P0741 which is "Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off". The car drives fine...I see no performance differences with the car transmission or engine. I had the transmission fluid flushed but the P0741 code returned 3 weeks later. The auto shop is telling me that a transmission replacement will be required since we already tried the transmission fluid flush already. Any ideas from the people on the forum on what I could do / check before going down the expensive route of replacing a transmission?

Thanks!

The DTC indicates the torque converter clutch has not properly applied when commanded to do so within a specified time frame. This clutch is located in the torque converter, and in your vehicle will engage in 4th gear at speeds above 40mph.

If you watch your tachometer at these times, you will notice the engine rpm drop about 300-500RPM and stay there under light throttle conditions.

Drive at 60MPH and apply gentle throttle. If your engine RPM jumps up with changes in throttle input, the clutch is defective or the circuit that supplies oil to it is defective.

Going from an armchair, you will need a torque converter, and a rebuild to address potential internal blockages in the valve body torque converter circuits.

Did you flush the transmission because of this code? Is the transmission full of the correct fluid?

Since this is a performance-related code, an electrical fault with the torque converter clutch solenoid is not likely. A worn out converter clutch and internal blockage are most likely given the design of the unit.
