F22a4 head on f22 block? Help!
So, long story short, my cousin broke a bolt while reinstalling the rocker arm assembly after replacing the lower spark plug tube seals on my f22a6. Now when it's running it sounds like metal hitting metal so something is misaligned, but because of the broken bolt, I cannot remove rocker arm assembly to re-align it. I Dont have the time to get the head rebuilt (if that's even possible with a broken bolt), nor can I afford a $220 rebuilt one from eBay that doesn't say what head from what motor its from, it just says it'll fit a a1, a4, and a6. I cannot afford them because I've got bills coming up and school keeps me busy and It's my only car so the cheapest and fastest fix is picking up a complete head from the junkyard, problem with that is I've never seen a a6 at none of the junkyards I've been to, only a1's and a4's. I know there are significant differences between a4 and a6 heads, so I need to know which head from what motor would be best to get, about how much power would I lose? Or if the block is still rebuildable, please let me know as fast as you can, I need to get it back up and running as soon as possible.
You can get ether an a1 or a4 and swap the camshaft over from your A6 head. As long as you swap the cam and reuse your original A6 exhaust and intake manifolds you are good to go.
The camshaft, intake, exhaust and ECU are the only difference between the 3.

The problem with that is that I can't get to the camshaft because of the broken bolt.
How did the bolt break? Usually when they break they shear below the head and you shouldn't have any trouble removing the rest of the bolts and pulling the rocker assembly off.
If he stripped the bolt there are also quite a few different ways to skin that cat.

He was tightening one of the 2 10mm bolts that sit outside the valve cover next to the distributor. He said he just felt the ratchet slip off the bolt so when he tried to keep tightening is when he realized it had snapped. But ill take a look at it this week and let you know how it goes and show some pics, thanks !
Well if all he did was round off the nut that is an easy fix. If he actually snapped the head off the bolt. You should have no issues with removing the rest of the bolts and removing the rocker assembly.
Good luck!
