2009 r18 engine compatibility question
I know a ton about the old b series stuff...but kind of ignorant when it comes down to the newer civics...
I have a 2009 civic ex that I got inexpensively (its a r18 engine/automatic) in which the engine either jumped time or worse as it has less than 15psi compression in 2 cylinders and about 75psi compression in other two. Im going to tear it apart to see what happened, but I am wondering if I decide to replace the engine outright or even just the head will any year r18 engine/head work, or do I need to stick with finding one from 2006-2010 model years? Ive seem some 2012 engines for sale significantly cheaper than the 06-10 years...not sure why and what issues may arise. Thanks for any and all help!

I'm actually not too sure if the 12+ would work... I think your best bet would be to stick with a 06-11 r18 instead. Also shouldn't be too hard to find either!
