I have been looking for a glass roof to put on my 1990 CRX Si. I have yet to find anyone that can get them or know where to get them. I need help. Does anyone know where I can get one or who to talk to?????? I want that thing bad!

I need to get it before i get my body work done and Im getting that done soon just waitting for my SiR conversion to come in and trying to find a glass roof to get.

 

First off you must understand that the JDM roof that you are talking about is not easy to remove. You will have to do custom cutting and custom welding to make it fit on your CRX. You must also know that you cannot remove it from the JDM one with out removing the metal that surround it. So if you have like $2000 kicking around you can do it but why not just go to Home Depot and and buy yourself some tinted Lexan and make your own because it is alot cheaper and alot lighter than the JDM ones.

There are a bunch of import companies that can get these for you. As CRXForum said, you do have to remove a LOT of metal. In fact, you have to remove your entire roof skin and hope you can get a quality installer that knows what they are doing. From what I unserstand, you need to weld a sub-support under the roof line to hold all A-piilars and all the other roof supports in place BEFORE you remove the roof. Romoving a roof is NOT easy at all... tons of UN welding to do. Then you put on the glass top and weld it down.... then prep and paint.

Totally not worth it in my opinion unless you work in a body shop and have all these skills.

I was planning on cutting the roof off and welding the glass roof on if I could find a glass roof. Depending on price I was also thinking about just making my own. Has anyone ever done that?? how did it turn out??

Thanks for all your help. I wonder how hard it would be to make my own glass roof??? I still wouldn't mind getting a real one but have never found anyone over here in the states that can get them!! Any more info that you all could give would be great.

 

yep sure does, i had a jdm CRX SiR a few years back and it gets so hot and sticky during the summer especially as i also had leather seats, and theres no visor thingy that you can pull across, so the whole interior is exposed, even though the glass is smoked it doesnt help much, just as well jdm cars had A/C and climate control
