1997 Honda Accord 2.7 V6 (Help Please)
Alright so I am totally new to the Honda game all together. I had a prelude and sold it before I even got it on the road and ended up getting this Accord for a daily back and forth to work. I bought it fairly cheap so I don't really want to drop more then 500 into it but I am looking for my best options
The Run down: Bought the car and the wife drove it to work one day she said that it starts having a knocking sound... Instead of pulling over she kept going until a loud bang and the car shut off and would not start. I called her a tow truck and had it brought home checked the fluids and it just had a fresh oil change a couple weeks prior to her driving it and everything was good it wasn't over heating at all either. I put a socket on the crank bolt and tried to give her a turn with no luck just moving it maybe a half inch or so. Then checked the dipstick and found that I have some "Shiney's" Metal flakes on the dipstick..
What I Was hoping to find out is what the cost would be to either rebuild or replace the motor. I have found that people want crazy amounts of money for these motors for some reasons. and I was hoping maybe someone can point in the direction to a swap that's cheap and will be reliable and would be minimal changes to put in or even a motor that would bolt right up to the tranny that is in it now since it was just rebuilt....
I am a little lost on this one and I'd appreciate any of the help and opinons I can get from you guys and gals.
Thanks
Hugh

Check car-part.com
You can probably find a cheap motor at a junk yard. A local yard here has one for $250.
I'm not so sure a modern J series would be an easy swap at all.

I'll give that website a try. Its got the C24a4 in it now. I'm just not familiar with what is interchangeable and what isn't so I'm taking shots in the dark and not having any luck! LOL. The cheapest motor that I have found thus far is 400 but they want 300 for shipping and that just isn't right lol
Well found on on car-part.com which I never know existed! 250$ bucks but it's an hour and 15 minutes away I'm going to give them a call in the morning and see if they have it still and check in about it they said the water pump has a slight drip but the motor I got now the waterpump and timing belt was just changed about 5000 miles ago so it's worth switching out
You must live near me. That's the one I saw. I just went up there 2 weeks ago and got a transmission for my Accord. It was about an hour drive for me. I haven't put the transmission in yet, but they seemed like nice guys.

I'm just hoping to get rid of it or get it fixed cheap work is screwing my bad right now.
It's actually a C24a4 that's in the car now... Like I Said I am not sure exactly what motors can be interchanged in this car. I'm just to curios as to what motors are in what year accords cause I have heard of the F22B1 and F22b2's now the C27 it's insane!
Hello All!
Can someone please guide me on where to get a basic guide to know about all basic things about 1997 Honda Accord 2.7 V6.
I recently came to NewYork and bought 1997 Honda Accord 2.7 V6 in seconds market. As I am new to cars I would like to know more about car problems and guides to help me.

Either way, the Honda Accord of 95-97 came with the 2.7 litre C V6.
Other cars that came with it are the Acura Legend 87-90 and the Rover 827 along with the Sterling Coupe/Vitese models from 89-95.
Legend engines were only 160HP vs the Accord/Rover/Sterling 170HP.
Look for C27A4
