Default b16a with pwo into 90 si,pre-detonation need help

hey guys I've been searching trying to find a clear answer but have yet to come across something that actually answers my question. I just swapped in a obd0 b16a with a pw0 ecu into my 90 civic si. I was told I just had to change the pin out vtec and that the second o2 and knock sensor weren't necessary........ after starting it I don't think that's the case. engine sounds like a Subaru and has backfired through the intake making me think its pre-detonating.

if anyone can post a link to what I gotta do to fix this and stay obd0 or what is needed to go obd1 (I have a full rywire setup from the d16z6 I had in the car) than I would appreciate it. I heard you need a obd1 dizzy from a 95 gsr but when I called the auto parts store they had 4 different options so I need specifics...... maybe even part numbers.

sorry if this questions already been answered or if it would be better posted in a different section but (like anyone else) I need to have it sorted asap since I already pre-registered for a event for my buddies b-day and would really hate to miss it

thanks in advance

also I'm running the stock d16a6 fire wall mounted map sensor, I was told that's fine but ..... thought i'd mention it.

also when I first fired the engine after the swap it fired and idled at around 1500rpms (would assume cold start) but then it went to **** after about 1min of running and cyl #3 plug was covered in oil from bad seal on vc gasket..... maybe I fried the coil in the dizzy? if so its obd0 so what car would I have to search that part off of?

thanks again in advance

Did you change the wiring on the MAP sensor? If memory serves me correctly, the single cam and dual cam engines require different polarity on the MAP sensor.

You have to be throwing like a dozen codes, correct? Check them. I'm sure one is a dead give away. You have a bunch of sensors not hooked up and I'm sure you probably just wired something incorrectly.

Also, does oil on a spark plug fry a distributor? I've never heard of that. The oil will cause a misfire though.

I haven't changed the wiring to the map sensor or changed the map sensor, I don't know if they are the same or different or what car I would pull one from if need be....

im thinking it might just be easier to convert to obd1, I have a socketed obd1 ecu as well as jumper harnesses for ecu, dizzy, vtec and 4 wire o2. just need info on tb/sensors and what dizzy to get

Maybe it wasn't the map, but the TPS or something. I can't recall, but there are several wires that need to be swapped around and such. Do you have any check engine lights? You should. Check them and see what codes you are throwing.

yeah, i'm not throwing any codes, which is super weird (maybe it doesn't stay running long enough to trigger one???) I'm picking up a new knock sensor and o2 sensor today, I'm gonna try and wire up the knock sensor and replace the o2 sensor and then try and splice it between c8-c16. its running pig rich on 2 of the cylinders so I'm thinking its just dumping fuel into them because its not getting any feed back from a o2

if that doesn't work than i'll try and physically add a second o2, I've looked both here, civic4g, Hondaswap, and 3 others but they don't say anything about changing maps or tps. so i'll start by atleast trying to run the rest of the wires and see where that gets me, but i'll try and look again and see if different sensors are need/re-wire.

You've definitely got issues if you don't have the knock sensor hooked up and you aren't throwing codes. Mine threw codes as soon as I turned the key to the 'on' position when I was missing sensors.
