Hello! I have an 02 civic lx that will crank but not start at times .I can hear the fuel pump prime every time as well . the kicker is I KNOW the car won't start if I turn it off because my coolant temp gauge just dies out and drops (not drops in temp, as in, stops working). Do the gauge temp sending units on these cars run more than just the gauge?? Once I park, she won't start for a while. This happened last week right after I noticed the gauge wasn't working. Once it started it was fine until today when it did the SAME thing. Gauge stopped working and when I got home it wouldn't start up after turning it off. its never shut off on me while driving at least. Runs perfectly fine . I gave it a rest for a good 45 minutes and when I turned the aux on and saw the temp gauge work again she started right up. I bought it as a daily driver so fortunately its not my only form of transportation. Honestly has been a fantastic car after some freshing up when I first bought it.

Efficiency/driveability/performance has been normal . when it runs you wouldn't know anything was wrong. Thanks guys, much appreciated!

 

Is the check engine light on?

 

No, there is no check engine. Also, car is 100% stock. Cars running fine now but I know it'll do it again.

 

Check grounds in the engine bay toake sure they are tight and corrosion free especially the one near the thermostat housing.
