I don't know from SoloII classes...
This relates to the Touring Lite conversation, posted previously. We are wondering how the modifications proposed there align with the new Solo "Street" classes. I haven't the faintest idea but know that some of you might. I really just need to know which Solo class(es) to start looking at for comparison. The short version of Touring Lite is:
* All IT modifications, plus...
* Cams
* Wheels/tires to 17" diameter
* Wing, splitter, sill kit
* Aftermarket brakes less than 12" dia. or ABS
* Proper coilovers
Which Solo class is this closest to? Where do these rules align least with SoloII?
Thanks in advance for the help!

well an IT car can run in Street Prepared - but it has to be in IT trim to run, as SP has plenty of other allowances such as stand alone engine management, ITB's, clutch/flywheel upgrades, and wheel size is more or less unrestricted - however usually the nationally prepared cars are running this stufff any many of them arent even bothering. Spring rates will be much lower as well for autoX - many of them are not trailer queens.
So would take some work to get a SP car legal for IT (gutting, cage, etc) but they do use alot of the same parts.

TL cars would likely fit into Street Mod. But, SM can go WAY beyond what is allowed in TL (engine swaps, alternate control arms, some other stuff).
Upgrading a car from Street Touring would be pretty easy (add cams, big brakes, aero package, and do an IT spec longblock).
And converting a Street Prepared car may not be too hard. They are allowed alternate engine management, intake and ignition are free. Remove the custom intake and go back to a dizzy and the car should be most of the way there.

Going line by-line:
* All IT modifications (IT cars can run in their appropriate SP class ... anything beyond IT prep or mix-matching other "Street" Solo II rules, and it's likely off to Prepared or Modified)
* Cams (can't do this in Street Touring or Street Prepared, but it's OK for Street Modified)
* Wheels/tires to 17" diameter (wheel diameter unlimited in ST, SP and SM)
* Wing, splitter, sill kit (wings and body kits OK in ST -- but nothing about the extent of the functionality; in SP there's a limitation on rear spoilers, and no other body kit or "cosmetic" piece can have aerodynamic functionality; SM defaults to ST and SP rules except wings can't extend more than 6" beyond widest part of bodywork)
* Aftermarket brakes less than 12" dia. or ABS (rotors and calipers unrestricted in STX but must attach to original mounting points; must be stock or on "same line" in STS and SP; ABS can't be added or removed unless going by update/backdate in ST and SP ... but it can be disabled in SP; brakes unrestricted in SM)
* Proper coilovers (OK in ST, SP and SM although all suspension pieces must attach to original points ... so if a car doesn't have a "coilover" type suspension, it can't change to coilovers ... but springs and shocks can be changed)
For clarification, Solo II ST, SP and SM rules are available online: http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/Rules/index.html

STS and STX don't allow for alternate cams, weight reduction, or alternate brake systems larger than factory spec.
The car you described would fit into Prepared, D/E Modified, or Street Modified.
Prepared would probably be your best bet in terms of being competitive at a national level.

every CSP car this year at nationals was a trailor queen....same for ASP, BSP....DSP actually had some people who DROVE their cars to nationals....SP cars are about as close to a race car as you can get and still be street legal (and have an interior)
it sounds like you're probably not gonna have a good fit into a SoloII class very well....SM you need at least 300hp....and in D or E Prepared it might me hard for you do get down to the minimum weight...how much does Tom Lobardo's Civic weigh? 1800 lbs?
