Default Accord 96 P0715

I got this P0715 code while testing my accord with supposed blown transmission. Basically the car gets in gear when cold, starts slipping/reving (at that moment the P0175 code pops) when hot and falls in neutral. Am I right to think the tranny is done or ECU or Sensor could be causing this major slippage? What do you suggest me to do before scrapping?

On the right side(end) cover of the transmisison there are two magnetic pickups. If the transmission has high mileage, the sensors can become covered in ferrous material and the resolution goes to pot. Verify the resistance of the sensor is between 400-600Ω. If so, pull the sensors out, verify they area clean of any ferrous material, wipe any gunk off, reinsert, clear the code and test drive. If the sensor checks out fine but the transmission still shifts erratically, then check the wire harness back to the TCU/PCM for any damage.

If the TCU/PCM is unable to register what the shaft speed of the transmission is, it will be unable to shift correctly.

If the fluid has never been changed, do so as well.

When talking about the magnetic pickups sensor are you referring to the speed sensor and silenoid?

Also, a guy from honda dealer told me to NEVER change the fluid for some reason... Anyways I will do it last resort, the car barely moves so I dont have much to lose.

Thanks for you help Mad Mike!

No. VSS(speed sensor) is located down low and near the firewall, located under the thermostat housing.

NM/NC shaft sensors are located on the end of the transmission. On the 2.2 cars it is on the 'right side cover'. Turn your steering wheel full right to lock the wheel, you will then see the end of the transmission. There are two sensors, one located ~2 O'clock position, the other ~10 O'clock position.
Use a 10mm to remove the bolt and rotate the sensors to break them free. They can be a PITA to remove as it is a tight fit next to the frame rail.

That there is a muppet.
Buy a gallon of Dexron II/III, drain your sump(do no flush) and remove all the gunk from the drain plug. No need to tighten the begesus out of the plug just hand tight.

So should the 10 oclock or 2 oclock sensor be cleaned?

I've got the same code. My auto trans worked fine before i took it out and reinstalled it and never has had this code before. When i drivedrive it it feels ok. Im not seeing the 2 oclock sensor when looking at the trans through the passenger side wheel well.

How exactly do you remove that sensor?

Thanks!
