99 accord check engine light code p1259
this is my first post and first Honda so bare with me guys.
Anyone have any experience diagnosing code p1259 on a 99 accord. Light came on just after going on the freeway. I did get an oil change recently, was feeling lazy, and I checked after the light came on and I needed almost a quart of oil to top it off. Just wanted to know what I can do before I pull the solenoid off.
Sidenote, I already looked up how to make the engine light rest set. Wanted to verify you reset it by pulling a fuse, doesn't seem right.

Not much really. If your oil was a quart low then the oil pressure sensor of the VTEC system did not close, when it does not the VTEC solenoid will not activate and code (22)P1259 will activate when the PCM notes the lack of oil pressure and the engine speed passing VTEC activation rpm threshold.
It's a safety device for the engine.[/quote]
Yup.
Hondas PGM-FI system is still fairly basic for OBDII, its a Speed Density system.
Pulling the fuse will clear the codes, and reset the learned tables.
Some scanners/code readers are not able to clear, or fully clear, any stored codes in the memory. Pulling the fuse is a easiest approach.

Thanks for the reply. Answered my question concisely. My buddy told me vtec kicks in at around 4000 rmps for my car so I put it in third and revved it to 4000 and soon as it reached that it started to putter out on me. Think I might be removing the solenoid after all
