was wondering if any one has had any experience with the blackworks racing turbo manifold? im building a d16z6 im getting to the point to buy a manifold. they looked good and to be well built, but I wasn't sure if any one had used them before. I had also looked at the go autoworks but its a few hundred dollars higher, but I also no u get what u pay for. thanks for all the help
Nothing from BWR is "well built". It's just another company that has crap parts mass produced in some third world country, stamps their name on it, and sells it.
There new line of manifolds actually look pretty damn stout and well built. Backpurged welding and quality steel.
I wouldnt hesitate to buy one if I was in the market for a ramhorn but I personally have no use for anything higher end that a good flowing cast manifold

Their welds are lacking. Some parts are undercut, some parts are not fully penetrated. This was on a manifold I looked at that is now on a car, and so far it's holding up.
from what i remember reading, bwr took on afi turbo jigs and fabricators after afi shutdown. the manifold and pipes has the same cuts and measurement that i got on my kit from afi. but the products onky good if it has a good welder.
but, ive yet to talk to them bout it. havent heard nearly enough good thing bout bwr to throw that kinda money at them.

Heavy construction but messy clean up I had lots of barbs where the runners meet the flange and then again where all of them merged before the turbo flange. For the price they're popular and if you're not as picky as me they will be fine, I do strongly dislike "crapworks" since my catch can with used fittings and missing bungs. After that I said **** it and witch to FR/SHEEPEY etc.

Thanks for all the input im still on the fence now tho. I had been looking at them on jhpusa.com they had them for 439 shipped they looked pretty sturdy but i dont no the true quality.
They're fine if you're not looking to spend alot and want it to last... last it will but I(and others) never liked the quality, when I got it and stated such in my build thread.
you get what you pay for rules over everything just think before you buy, I bought cheap and expected a lot lesson learned.

for the record, a lot of the welders from AFI now do BWRs welding.
*not sure if I was supposed to say that or not lol*

Pretty sure there was another company making those manifolds, **** hit the fan and they split and started F5 racing. Also, pretty sure one of the AFI guys joined/made? JDL auto design, their stuff looks AMAZING!!!! All that and more here in Phoenix lol.
We installed a BWR ramhorn on my buddies car about 2 years ago. Manifold has held up so far. Hasn't had a lot of miles as it is a weekend car, but it is still in one piece.
I have one of there ramhorn manifolds too. Its actually held up fine. Though they do NOT tear drop there wastegate inlets to help prevent boost creep. There down pipes don't have the best fitment. Customer Service is total sh***!!! Good luck having them respond to any issue you may have. I would recommend Ron @ RLD Fab. He fixed my BWR ramhorn inlet and tear dropped it for me. RLD Fab has great customer service and top notch products. Cant go wrong there. So all in all .. NOT worth saving a few bucks for the quality of product you will get from BWR.

What are some other recommendations for a d series ram horn manifold? I had been looking also at the go autoworks manifold is 695 plus shipping and they a combo with 2.5 or 3 in. down pipe and dump tube. They are 959 and 995 plus shipping. at this point im so deep in this honestly the cost isnt a huge factor but it just means that much longer lol on getting this done. Gotta save buying one part at a time. Thanks
You're referring to the original owner and creator of AFI before he sold AFI to the parent company Kenny Enterprises and the person you ask know as Brad came aboard.
If this is for your CRX you should surely be talking to the fabricator on if the manifold is radiator friendly, a ramhorn in a CRX is tricky and often the top of the manifold hits the hood, wastegate is put right into the Tbar and the turbo is outright held to far from the block, and radiator is a nightmare.
Im not positive I know of a well fitting D16 tubular manifold for a CRX/D16

I had planned on going with a half radiator just to be safe. I figured the full radiator would get in the way. but I didn't know about the rest ill have to check then. I had thought about using the hood spacers for extra clearance to be safe, but at the front of the hood im not sure how much it would help. thanks again

lol that's nice to know. ive got a cheap ebay cast manifold I bought when I first started the build, but honestly I like the look of the ram horn. im looking to try and make around 350 to 400 hp so I figured it would be a plus to use a ram horn. I had also looked at go autoworks mini ram, but now im not sure about clearance. thanks for all the input lol I feel like im worse off now than before. ill have to start checking on some for the crx then. does anyone have any suggestions for manifolds that fit a crx.
