so my friend keeps telling me the valves are too loud at idle.
but I adjusted them 3 times already to the medium clearance followed the service manual every time.
I tighten it until I feel reistance on the screw driver and then tighten the 10mm bolt
for example intake valves. .006-.007in clearance
I use the .007feel to tighten it until the gauge slides snugly
then test it with the .006 feeler to make sure it slides somewhat easy
usually I try to make it where the lower clearance gauge slides in and the upper clearance gauge doesn't. which means its right around the middle clearance.
and that's how I adjust them every time
then check again after its torqued with torque wrench.
I let the engine sit and cool overnignt every time.
but it still taps away at idle much louder than other stock motors.
and its a 2000 gsr motor so I don't think the LMAs could be worn out already.
how can I tell difference between worn LMA and valve rocker noise?

could it be the injectors?
what i started doing more recently is slowly tighten the lash until it just pinches the feeler gauge so it cant move, then ill back it off like maybe 1/8th of a turn or a tiny bit less and you can feel the drag. go through the firing order for cylinders once to adjust, then ill go back through a second time and double check.
they have special tools for this but i just hold a socket with some vice grips and then use a tiny flat head down through the middle of the socket to hold it while i snug the nut before it gets the torque wrench.
ive had an lma go bad before it had a heavier, more clacking sound. loose valvetrain seems to sound lighter and more fluttery and faster
