painting my hx rims- question
ok, i want to paint my HX rims gunmetal w/ a polished lip. i've searched and figured out how to paint them, but I can't find anyone who has polished their own lips. can someone help me out here? i'm guessing mask off the lip while painting, but then how do i polish it? just start w/ rough sand paper and keep going to higher and higher grits till it's done? or could i use a rotary tool or some kind of motorized thing like that to do it? gracias in advance
The best way to get the lip polished is to take them to a machine shop. I have a set of HX wheels that I use for autocross that I did this with. The total charge from the machine shop was about $100. I painted the wheels myself using a product called "cast blast" or "cast refinish". It gives a beautiful gunmetal color and is durable as hell. Best part it is only $4 per can. Mask off your lip before you paint.
