Hi guys,

I bought a 2010 honda pilot recently. and i happened to go to honda and got to know that the guy who sold me has turn and adjusted the mileage . reduced around 60k km.

i did a service 2 days back, *oil change, filter change and regular service. now iam getting a knock sound n the engine.


the above video link is very similar noise as iam getting. im a bit worried if there is any thing major repairs. with my experience i suspect some thing wrong with the timing belt , tensioner. would be really helpful if any of u guys could help me out.

i think those motors can develop some piston slap. it happened to my friend's ridgeline and i remember reading that its more common than you think. is there metal in the oil? does it change sound between warm/cold engine and with different rpms?

 

I recently Changed oil, i havent noticed any metal in the oil. sound change no. its almost very stable except this noise. when i start the engine after long night break in the morning, i get bit of an oil smell. but after engine heats up no more smell at all. engine is very stable.

 

is that piston slap is a seriouse threat to engine ? jus worried. cos i just bought the vehicle

He tampered with the odometer? Take it back, now. That's illegal afaik

 

If you cannot take it back and want to diagnose further, I would the belts off one at a time a run it briefly each time a belt is removed. You will find out if the noise is coming from one of the belt driven devices or if it's coming from inside the engine.
