Safety indicator clusters glows 2 minutes after starting
I have a 1993 Honda accord 10th-anniversary edition with 145,000 miles, never been wrecked, no electrical work ever done by hacks or mechanics. When I start the car in the morning the normal lights in the gauge panel come on and go out once the car is running.
After anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes running all the Safety Indicator lights in the gauge cluster starts to glow dimly and then become bright. I am talking about the "Doors/Trunk" open indicator lights. All 4 door and trunk indicator lights come on and they are all closed and the Brake Lamp Failure indicator light comes on at the same time. All the brake lamps, fuses have been checked and found good.
Any input? Anyone ever experienced this before?

Hey, I'm not sure if you figured out your problem, but take a look at this posting:

I've got the same issue. I had much greater issues arise since then so I haven't had a chance to address this issue, but it's next on my list.

Thanks for the come back on my thread.(https://honda-tech.com/honda-accord-.../#post50606766). I've tried all the fixes suggested in your thread about the ICU and found NO JOY! I have also tried several test on the brake lamp indicator warning light on the dash. I think it is something wrong in the dash cluster, but I haven't bothered since this is more of an annoyance than anything. It doesn't appear to affect any other systems. So for now I am just ignoring it until I have more of a reason to tear into the dash panels.
The only thing I did read somewhere along the way was it might be caused by a charging system that is working poorly, but I have not been able to find any more information about that theory.
I'm going to post this reply in your thread so if you stumble across a solution I might hear about it.
Thanks

I don't know. I installed a new battery because the one I had was 6 years old and it was time. It seemed like it took longer for the door open indicator lights to come on for a while after replacing the battery. Currently, the dash lights come on as soon as I hit the key. I also did my own testing of the charging system with a voltage ohm meter and didn't find anything obvious. I haven't had the charging system tested by an auto parts store or shop since they will probably try to sell me a new alternator regardless of the results. And like I said, I've just been ignoring the problem because I have been so busy recently.
scubacamper,
keep in mind the only other problem I have is my stock honda am/fm radio cuts in and out by itself. It will shut off but not lose the presets. To me, everything points to a bad ground but I have cleaned all the ground connections I can find. I admit I have not been able to locate the one up high under the dash.
