93 Civic VX - More fuel than capacity?
How did I just put 11.3 gallons into my 93 VX? Am I wrong in thinking it should only have a 10 gallon tank? No way I could have leaked over a gallon while pumping and not seen anything right?
Is there any chance you have an aftermarket tank?
You can overfill a bit, but I'm not sure what the volume of the filler tube is. That sounds like quite a bit.

I'd have to probably drop it to find out. I'll just keep my eye out for leaks and smells for now.. next time i fill up I'll do the fuel economy math and see where I am.. and I'll fill up when it's cooler.. may have something to do withr vapor space? Maybe..
Thanks for posting that.. literally everywhere online shows it as 10g.. edmunds, vin decoders, Google lol
That explains it I guess, thanks.

The first quote is inconsistent with the second quote, unless the gas tank was replaced.
That's why I asked.
EDIT: Luckily I still have my owner's manual! 10 gal confirmed on CX/VX.
My guess is the gas tank was replaced at some point with a 11.9gal part from another model (they are reportedly compatible).
Fickster, is this your first fill-up on this car?

What year Civic owner's manual? The OP has a 93 VX.
Yes.
The manual is from 1994. Most other threads around here indicate a 10gal tank on the CX/VX. I'll see if I can find a 1993 manual.
OP does have a motor swap, so maybe they changed tanks too.
I think the CX/VX pn is 17500-SR0-325, but nobody lists the capacity along with the part.

Did a second fill up and was shitting fuel on the ground.. pulled the seats and cap and found this. Would these missing/loose nuts be where the fuel is coming from? I'm going to put nuts on anyhow just curious if I should keep looking.
