I have a 2000 Honda Accord, 4 door EX V6 with 250,000 miles.
I have noticed a rotted area about the size of a peach pit roughly located beneath the heater core (Could dripping from A/C condensate have caused the problem?).
Bottom of the frame is solid with no rust. No symptons, car stands perfect, etc.
Could this rot lead to a "collapse" of the car? It was not garaged, living in NJ where there is road salt in the winters.
Or is this a common area of rust in Honda Accords not to be worried about?
It is something to worry about, no the car isn't going to "fall apart" but if and when the subframe does rust through, there will be all kinds of noises and strange feeling in the suspension.
Suggest you start searching bone yards for a replacement, you can use places like "car-part" dot com to help locate one. Changing it is not that fun but isn't that hard.

I have the same problem with a 2000 accord; could you please tell me what that part would be called? Thanks.
