Is this normal? I'll be driving then like the check battery or check oil light will just suddenly flash for like half a second then it won't do it again till like the next day. What’s causing this and should I even care? Thanks! I have a 1997 Civic EX with 139,000 miles.

 

It's not normal.

Sounds like a loose connection in the dash. Is it just those two lights, or others as well?

 

Thanks for the response! Sometimes a third one flashes but its too quick for me to catch what it is. What would be a remedy for this?

 

Check the oil pressure and alternator.

 

Yeah, check the parts that are linked to the potential problem before assuming it's the light in the dash or the connection to it that's faulty.

 

If the oil is low, the absolute first time you'll know about it is when you're making a turn. The oil light will flicker on for just a split second, then turn off once the centrifugal force making the oil slosh weakens.
