Default Crankshaft Fluctuation (CKF) Sensor Wire

Hello Honda Tech,

I'm just getting into and learning how to work on cars. I recently replaced the Timing belt and water pump on my 98 civic ex. I shortly after registered a code for the crankshaft position sensor. I researched and found the sensor is on the right side of the crank and has a wire that runs to the back of the block. I can see that the wire was cut by my alternator belt. I bought a new sensor but was wondering where to tuck the wire so I don't make the same mistake twice?

If you look on your lower timing belt cover, there's a little indention for the crankshaft position wire to ride in. Once it reaches the end of that, I BELIEVE it goes underneath the alternator bracket (the U-shaped on that shares the bolt with the water pump).

Someone correct me if I'm wrong! I had this same issue when putting the car back together after a recent timing belt job. If you don't have your answer by Saturday, I can take a picture of how mine is routed when I get back home.

The crankshaft fluctuation sensor is different than the crankshaft position sensor.

Honestly, that would be awesome! I'm planning on tackling the job on Saturday anyways. I would really appreciate it!.

Its the sensor that is right next to the crank at the bottom of the block. I can see that the wire is cut so I ordered that part.

As mentioned it tucks into a formed spot (indention) on the lower timing belt cover.
You can also zip-tie it to the alternator harness as well.
