question on b16a in a non si crx
i have had people say mixed things about this. one guy said a b16a is easy to install in a 88+ si, than it is in a non si. but this other guy said installing is the same, they ONLY thing that might be hard is wiring.
what is everyones input. is it alot harder on a non si? im looking to buy a non si right now, but if i cant do a swap, then im going to buy a teg.
if its wiring, is there a kit where it will let me "plug and play" type deal?

Well he's probably thinking of the DX, which is DPFI, and the wiring probably is harder, but I dont see how it can be harder than installing on an SI since you're changing the manifold, wiring harness etc anyway with the B16 swap.
Hope that didn't confuse you.

so i COULD drop a b16a in it. so should i just take it to a shop (im thinking force fed industries here in cols), or is it just like drop in engine, trans, and connect to wires to the ecu (b16a ecu). if i get a crx, and get the money for a swap, ill ask around if theres people who know how to do a engine swap. theres guy from slowmotion that know a ton, ill ask them once i get a car.
Too bad force fed is closed. Passen could do it, but i wouldn't trust them. Dropping a B16a in to a non Si is difficult because of the wiring. Like it was stated earlier 275 bucks can take care of that. But is 200 lbs worth 300 bucks? I'll let you decide that one. To me the ease of the swap was more important than the whole weight issue. I can take out 200 lbs in parts.
The wiring is somethig like this
Si-Multi-point fuel injection non Si-Dual point fuel injection before 88-Carborated
Si-VTEC Solenoid non Si-VTEC Solenoid
Really these are your 2 biggest wiring issues, Basically the fuel system, and electronics have to be re-wired in a non Si. Hope this confusing piece helped out a little.

it's not hard at all, it's less than 10 wires. one wire from power to resistor box, four wires from resistor box to injectors, four more wires to ecu pins from resistor box. one wire for oil pressure sensor, one wire for vtec solenoid. and then just knock sensor if your ecu isn't programmed. don't let people fool you, it's nowhere near worth 275$. takes like maybe an hour if it's your first time. and figure like 60$ and hour is standard shop rates. talk to some locals on here and i'm sure someone would come and help you out.
