Type S Swap into 1997 SH Prelude Help
Hey what's up guys! I recently purchased a type S engine online due to my 1997 type SH burning so much oil and running horribly. I am not a mechanic but I do you know how to follow instructions and learn new things. So with that being said I took the motor out all by myself for the first time ( pats self on back). I'm just trying to figure out if I should just rewire the distributor or swap the oil pumps. I'm honestly very skeptic about swapping the oil pumps due to the fact that I don't know how to do timing belts and don't want to mess up the timing. I just want to get the car running perfectly with no check engine lights. I'm not necessarily worried about passing smog. I have done tons of research the past few days and I'm hearing so many different ways about going at it. Can someone guide me in the right direction? Thanks!!
If your not worried about it passing smog and are not to confident in your ability for the timing belt job and oil pump swap then I would go with the Rywire distributor adapter since that is the easiest route of action.
You know where I can get this? Also would it cause any type of problems?
Here you go it should be this with the 8-pin distributor.
OBD2 USDM Prelude to OBD2 8-pin Distributor Adapter

I would be getting the one for the internal coil right?
Also is there any sensors I need to switch over?
Some people say you have to switch over the knock sensor and a couple more. Also I will be using the jam type s ecu that came with the motor.
No you would be selecting your OLD distributor type which should be the external coil. You would need to also switch over the vtec pressure sensor if you are using your h22a4 engine harness other then that it should be a direct drop in and go. And you can use the type s ecu without any issues. Is there any way you could post up a picture of your distributor that is on your new type s engine? Or you can just count the number of pins or wires that are on the distributor plug and then get that adapter harness for your setup. I just want to make sure that you get the right harness from the start.
