High HP solution for K Series
Hi all
I'm planning a potential project that has a unique set of requirements compared to the "normal" drag build. The car will use a mid mounted turbocharged K24/K20 aiming for 800 - 900 whp and compete in 1/2 mile rolling run and 1000 metre standing start sprints.
I thus need a transmission solution that will handle the power without imploding but still provide the required gearing to run ~210 mph.
Both Albins and PPG gearsets are 1st-4th only, can the OEM 5th gear be used with these gearsets ? I fear the OEM Honda 5th won't be able to cope with the power and high speed load though...The Quaife sequential is a 5speed but close ratio so it doesn't provide long enough gearing in 5th.
The car will weigh around 2100 lbs
Are there any other options ?
