So I drive a 2007 Odyssey with 81000 miles on it. I heard a noise that sounded like a fan belt whirring. Then the battery light came on, so I drove straight to the garage. As I pulled in the car started lurching forward and i had to press down on the gas pretty far to make it go.
They tell me I have 2 separate coincidental problems: a bad alternator, and a bad transmission. They said when they went to move the car into the shop they put in in reverse and it went forward.
Then the guy who came to repair my washer, who is also a mechanic apparently, said they were lying, the car wouldn't go forward while in reverse, and that the lurching could have been caused by the electrical problem. I don't have 3k, so any help or advice would be appreciated!
