Hello! This is my first post and my first time owning a Honda Civic! It has the 1.7L and is automatic. I bought it knowing it had a leak(got a decent deal) but i am stumped on where it is originating from. I believe that the valve cover gasket is the culprit because it seems to be wet almost all the way around it and the motor is quite grimy below it. I'm decently inclined when it comes to engines, so i think i could change it, but i just want to see what some people think before i start stripping it all down. I also think that it could be the rear cam plug, but i feel like there is too much oil on the outside of the engine for it to be that. If anyone has any input at all please let me know! Any advice is greatly appreciated! i also added some pictures so you guys can see what i am working with.
Check the cylinder head plug (12513-P72-003) first. It can make a mess when the seal breaks down.
That's a problem that I thought about. I just figured that it wouldn't release that much oil. I'll try it first sometime this week or next and try to see if that fixes it. Thanks!
