95 EX F22B1 daily driver advice/opinions wanted
I just bought my fiancee a 95 Accord EX automatic with 115k on it. She is willing to let me fix it up provided I stay within a few ground rules. No engine or tranny swap, no FI, and can't be too loud. She wants around a 1" drop, so I was thinking Eibach Pro-Kit and KYB AGX shocks. I'm also going to get a Neuspeed Front Strut bar. For brakes, I was going to get her Brembo Blanks, with Axxis Pads. I'll probably get goodridge SS lines as well. Since she doesn't want her car to be too loud, I am going to get an Apex-i WS cat-back.
I can't decide between a DC ceramic or Stainless Steel header. How long will the ceramic last? I also can't decide between a short ram intake or cold air, most likely AEM. I'm not too sure how risky a cai would be, I live in San Diego, CA. Would I have to worry about any water splashing when it rains and getting sucked up?
Now for the real questions. Since I can't go FI or swap, I was thinking of raising the compression and doing some headwork.
What would be a good compression to run with Premium, 92 octane, fuel?
Who makes high compression pistons for the F22B1?
Should I get crower rods? Do I have to resleeve the block?
Where is a good place in Southern CA to get the head/TB/IM mildly ported and polished? Is JG Engine Dynamics a good place?
Should I get stainless steel valves?
Would a Level 10 transmission be a good idea or just get a torque converter or is neither necessary?
Would I need to get new fuel injectors if I do all this work?
Is all this work even necessary or worth it? Money is not too much of an issue, but I don't want to waste money.
Sorry for all the questions, but I have been reading this board for a while, but haven't found answers I need. Any opinions or ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Man...
To answer the engine ?'s.
http://www.rceng.com has the 11:1 pistons and you can rehone the block without sleeving as long as you stay within block specs (I have 'em if you need em). They also have crower rods. Wouldnt put in pistons without doing rods too.
Check out the FI forum..they all hate JG.
Level ten is a joke....stay away from them too. They overcharge for OEM rebuilds.
Dont think you'll need bigger injectors for upping the compression. You'll need something to control the ones you have like a VAFC.

first of all-what's with the stupid ground rules (no offense)... might as well get the prelude swap, a few bolt-ons, drop it, rims, some show parts and call it a day... you can get those bolt-ons for your accord motor but i don't think you'll be satisfied with it in the end...

Just get the CAI and the ceramic header and be done with it. If you want to go further get the Gude tb/im/cam package. Beyond that, it really isnt worth it unless you go all out and get a tranny swap.
Edit: 5000 posts! Go me!

Yeah I know those rules suck, but she wants the accord to still be comfortable and stay smog/emissions legal. She also doesn't want to drive a manual. It's not my car so I am gonna do what she wants. Gotta keep the wifey happy.
It is kind of my car. I drive it when we go out, but she uses this car for her stuff, and I drive my truck to work. I also have a honeymoon to save for. In 2005, I'm going to get the new Supra.

why bother fix up her car when you cant do anything to the motor and it's not your. I dunno....hottie with nice ride always asking for attention, sometime wrong attention at wrong place can get her in deep sh_t..
just get a CAI, tint, rims and exhaust.

if this car is just a daily driver that is not used for any kind of racing, why bother?
why compromise the reliability of a great car by adding all these aftermarket parts? keep it original and maintain the car well, it will perform great and give you no problems.
save your money!!

get a CAI (for cheaper maintenence in the long run, just wash and reoil)
since it's an automagic, i wouldn't worry about exhaust and header, unless they are bad/spoilt
5% tint would be a great mod since you don't want folks to keep on staring at your wife (j/k) LOL
brakes upgrade is ok too. bembro slotted in groupbuy is only $49 each, nissin pad, and tech???? something for only $90 (it's stainless steel brake lines)
i believe you have EX model right? paint the rims gunmetal and upgrade the tires to 205/55/15. that would give you all the comfort you want. i don't really recommend rims as they are a stealing object. plus the ride won't be comfortable and you'll be worrying too much trying to stay away from pot holes.
since you already have 3 years plan from now, don't waste money on stuff that you cannot transfer to your supra.
ICE would be a nice thing also, cd player, nice speakers, keyless/alarm.
if i were you; don't even bother modifying the 4 banger with automagic.

i say forget the CAI and just get a new K&N filter and remove the stock reasonator. You could probably just put it in and forget about it for a couple years.
Spend the $$$ on YOUR car....not her's!

I've got a 95 Accord EX also. I've got a few bolt-ons and it looks okay. It's my daily driver and as long as I'm getting 28 MPG and it isn't burning oil, rattling, smoking and all that then I'm leaving the engine alone. If I were in your shoes I'd go on and do an H22A swap and be done with it. You'd spend less money and not have the worry of other things. I've got 185,000 miles on it and can't complain at all, and still doing 90 in the 1/4.
Make her car look nice and buy yourself a project car!

if the engine is not burning oil or has no leaks, keep it. but eventually the auto tranny will fail and instaed of paying to have it rebuilt, for the same amount of money, you can get the h23(prelude Si tranny) 5-spd conversoin done(it bolts up to the f22b1) and your car will be significantly quicker when acclerating. its probably the best mod you can do while being in a budget.
good luck, and enjoy your car...
