Default "Period Correct" Wheels for 89-91 Si Hatchback

So I've been looking for a set of wheels for my '91 Si Hatchback that are more "period correct". I'm currently running 15x6 OEM Honda Accessory wheels from a newer Civic (01-05), but I'd like something that looks like it could have been there in the early/mid 90's (that isn't some kind of tri-spoke aftermarket piece of crap--those old enough will know exactly what I mean).

I can't find any nice 89-91 accessory wheels or I would jump on those. CRX Si wheels look like they belong on a CRX Si. I've looked at an older set of G2 Integra wheels and those would be ok, as would some G3 Prelude wheels. At this point just not sure what to run, but I want to keep the car looking like it should.

Also thought about some older 14" BBS wheels or something.

Any other suggestions?

This should get you started - look for:
DP Motorsports
Spoon
Mugen
Enkei Classics
BBS RS / Konig Remembers
Fittipaldi

Lastly, my 2 favorites:
Momo Quasar
Centra Type 11

Those chrome wannabe Anteras? LOL

Are you looking for period correct in itself? Or period correct wheels that look like dealer options? I only ask because of the examples you provided.

I love my SSR Dori 2's; anything SSR for that matter:

So I've looked at some of the older Mugens and I'm certainly interested in those, but finding them complete and original seems to be a bit difficult (and pricey). The BBS are an option as well and those can normally be found in decent condition.

The Fittipaldis didn't seem to age all that well, finish wise.

And yes, I'm open for both an OEM wheel or a tasteful aftermarket wheel. I don't want the car to look like it traveled back in time and acquired wheels at the local Discount Tire for $59/corner.

Then I'm throwing my all time favorite out there. Black Racing Phantom M-1.

Also fond of RS Betas both in 1 piece and 3 piece design.

EDIT: Also 5Zigen Div.3 since you rarely rarely RARELY ever see those at all anymore.

The Phantom M-1 looks good, but was that around in the early 90's? The 5Zigen is too "tuner" looking for this car. The car itself looks pretty stock. I don't want to mess that up with a set of wild wheels. That's why I was trying to find something OEM-ish looking or conservative aftermarket.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

Panjo Marketplace
Thought about those but isn't the offset a bit wrong? I don't want them sticking outside the fenders or rubbing.

True. Then my best suggestion as far as stock option would 86-89 Accord alloys. Sort of have that aero cover look on them but it's all cast aluminum (bonus if you can find them with the center cap covers).

I came across these the other day.

Pretty rare and I haven't seen a set of these in years, given his price is definitely inflated.

Those aren't bad. Wheels certainly need to be refinished, but that's the accessory wheel. All the way in philly though, unfortunately.

And yeah, that's a bit too much for the condition, certainly.

What's your budget? Some of these vintage wheels can get pretty expensive.

Yeah they need to be refinished for sure and if the price wasn't so bad it would be a deal.
I just haven't seen a hatch with these for a long long time.

Depends upon the wheel and how much I like it, but I don't have a 'max' in mind.

Enkei92
RS-Watanabe
Work Equip01
SSR MK-I, MK-II, MK-III, FL-II
Mugen
Hayashi Street
E30 Bottle Caps

That's all I can think of right now. The bottle caps and Enkei92 look really good on EFs in my opinion.

Those chrome tri-stars are literally the first thing I thought of when I read your thread title lol. Good ole Prime Tri Stars. I used to see them all the time when I was little, and even as a little kid I thought they were ugly.

I love most stuff from the 80's and early 90's, but aftermarket wheels were just sooo bad in that era. It's like manufactures went out of their way to make something completely different (and uglier) that stock.

And sticking to the tri-spoke design, the famous Enkei 84's:

I do too, but I don't want to downsize from the OEM 14" wheel. I'd like to stick to 14", 15" max.

CF-48's with covers? They always seem to be missing. That's certainly a wheel I was looking at though, but it is a common choice.
