Default 2016 Accord :-)

You should check out the 2016 model year Accord if you're looking for a new basic car.

There's an amazing list of things available on the Accord coming up, things that used to be available only on luxury cars.

Automatic cruise control, lane keep assist, collision mitigation braking, road departure mitigation, all kinds of fanciness.

Remote start seems to be standard on the top three tiers.

Unfortunately, it could mean that it won't be possible to get a 6-6 Coupe any longer.

They're just running out of reasons to keep making manual transmissions.

The point on the graph where CAFE meets performance has already come and gone. If the car does the shifting, you can have more gears, get better fuel economy and better performance.

It's too bad, but that looks like where they're going.

As Brian Cooley (CNET) said about the 6-6 Coupe, "I don't know why the build it, but I'm sure glad they do."

19" on the Sport model OEM.

(not the best looking wheel, but the size is there.)

One info I've not read is if the 2016 Accord will have auto start-stop.

It is important to me because...do not want. I've been in a Benz GLK with ECO Start-Stop. It works. Not a big deal. But still do not want.

That pinch nose front end (like BMW3) made it look meaner.

So there will be another 6-6? What are the motor options?

Current reading suggest carryover, since this is MMC. The only "major" powertrain news is the hybrid Accord will end. Honda is going to build a "Prius like" vehicle (again).

IMO, I think that is the wrong move. Hybrid should be model specific as there are customers that don't want their hybrids to look weird. Unless it's a Looker, it's going to be an Ugly Duck. And how long have customers waited for a hybrid Odyssey...Even the Toyota Sienna owners are waiting too.

I'm guessing the "turbos" won't join the Accord family until 10th Gen.

So get them Big Blocks while you can... I'm keeping mine. 3.5L all motor.

I saw something recently that talked about a hybrid system with two electric motors, and a hybrid system with three electric motors.

I am not sure what kinds of cars labelled "Honda" would get which system.

Speaking as the owner of a hybrid with three electric motors...it's awesome, if that's what they're talking about!!

Bumper is a nice refresh; grill not so much. As long as they continue making the 6MT sedan I'll remain interested. The base 4 is still a tank and easy to work on.

I think most of us looking for power are looking at other platforms with either stronger aftermarket support or a better balanced chassis (or both). The fact that KW, for example, still does not make a properly damped OTS setup for the Accord is disappointing.

wow is it true 2016 accord will not have a hybrid touring model? If that is the case I have to just buy the 2015. I was going to wait for the 2016 with all the changes but if hybrid will not be in the 2106 I am sold on the 2105 instead.

I just found this so now I am not sure if that is true?

The plug-in hybrid will be gone, and the regular hybrid will be replaced by a model featuring the new 2-motor version of the hybrid systems.

I'm afraid I do not know if there will be a Touring model, but I neither know of any reason why there would *not* be one. I'm assuming there will be.

Temple of VTEC Rumors and News - Honda drops Hybrid and CNG Civics and Plug-in Accord from the lineup

Does that help at all?

Thanks for replying. Two Electric Motors? Would that use up the battery more quickly and will both motors be in the front end at each end of the gas engine? I want to buy the 2105 Touring model but wondering if I should wait for the 2016 with all the new features that may be standard like auto remote start which is an option in the 2015 for $399. Not sure if the E-CVT will be a re design but one would think so if it will have 2 EM's? Wouldn't the battery have to be larger to accommodate the two EM's? The review said with larger LCD but the one is the touring model is 8 inch now so not sure what they mean?

I am also wondering how difficult it would be to do repairs on the gas engine like timing chain or tensioner if one puts over 200k on it?

Thanks Again!!

Thanks for posting the link. So...there will be a 2016 Accord Hybrid. Just not the Plug In version (was not widely available anyway).

The question I have is this: Will Honda add (or offer) the Honda Sensing technology (currently available on the CRV Touring model and the new Pilot) to the 2016 Accord lineup?? This is really great technology that is very attractive to an absent-minded driver like myself!

Are you talking about LDW - Lane Departure Warning?

A little off topic but a 2016 Pilot Touring AWD just recently found it's way into my driveway

Still learning all the buttons and that but I happy so far.

I think so, but I do not know to what extent.

Just two days ago, for example, they issued an emergency bulletin to Honda dealers to be careful when setting up the optional remote start for the 2016 Pilot.

The problem was that if the dealer tried to use everything available, he would cause ECU damage because he would be trying to activate a particular feature that was reserved to Acura's use.

I think we're going to see safety and convenience features advancing by leaps and bounds, but they're never going to give Honda everything that Acura has available in North America.

Where you after the surround view cameras like the Legend has? Is that what you were talking about?

I missed out there. The 2016 5G Legend sold as the RLX Sport Hybrid in North America will have those surround view cameras. My 2014 car did not, and they didn't give us any 2015 Legends because they needed the entire production capacity for Asia.

The right-side camera that Honda has...for some reason Acura still prefers radar there.

The "AcuraWatch" feature has a right side camera, but it is mostly for parallel parking to spot the curbside distance.

Nice Pilot. Some said it looks too CRV, I think that's a good thing. I turn my LDW off. The Ody is already wide and any "normal" lateral movement and it beeps.

How you like the dual sunroof in the real world use?

Beautiful Pilot!!

Here is a description of Honda Sensing. Also, there is a comparison to Subaru's Eyesight technology:

I've not read the Pilot's owners manual. But some of those "camera" features like FCW and LDW don't work under extreme heat. It's listed in the Odyssey owner's manual.

So depending on what state you live....may want to think about that since it adds "thousands" to the cost of the car.

Now in the summer, my system don't work until 10-15 mins after the AC cools it down a bit. And this with the sunshade up when parked.

Yea, the LDW was one of the first things I learned to turn off. Next I'm still playing with the setting on the FCW as it relates to the cruise control, if it thinks you are too close it will cut speed from the cruise speed.

The dual sunroofs only come on the Elite so I just have the one. This was the only one they had on the lot. As I understand right now each dealer is only getting one or two.

Compared to the 07 Pilot I have they have done a lot of work....leather every where -dash, more on the panels, ect. Added an adjustable "center arm rest" to the front seats, not just the "common" center console rest. Memory seats for each driver (2) based upon the fob used, when you shut it off it defaults to a "set" point to make it easy to get in/out.

Thanks. It was one of those where I/we have been talking about a new car for ~ 1 1/2 years. Needed a part for the youngest boys 97 Accord from the dealer an the wife wanted to go....pretty much knew what was going to happen. Been bouncing around from a TLX, Accord to a Pilot. Thought it would be a 2015 Pilot Touring but since they had the 2016 with the new style, well we just fell in love with it....or at least she did

I guess I'll have to read more on the comment from GK on the remote start? At least they went to "one" remote for this. We did it a few time at the dealer. Not really a program but more of "press" this button for a few seconds and then press that button and the car starts

And if the "blue" Mod's want to delete or move this I will understand......I have to make these calls on another site where I'm a Mod.
