Auto Trans Prelude- Do or Don't?
New user here! So I'm going to look at a 1998 Prelude tonight. It is in immaculate condition (I've seen it before), completely rust free, gorgeous interior, tons of maintenance records. It is black on black with moon roof and spoiler. Its a two-owner, adult owned and driven, completely unmolested, original Prelude. However, it has the dreaded SportShift Automatic transmission. The good news is, the transmission was replaced last year and since has only had 6,000 miles put on it. Does this still sound dangerous? I don't want the transmission going out right after I buy it. I don't plan on abusing the car, autocrossing it, or even using the sport shift mode. Should I still steer clear of the car solely because of the transmission?
i'd try to find one with a stick to test drive just so you'll know what it's like if you havent driven one before. how can you choose between two women if you havent done them both? 8)
Well what I'm trying to get at is, should I be worried about the transmission from a reliability standpoint being that its a notoriously bad trans, although it is very new? I'd love to have a manual Prelude, my sister can't drive stick (and outright refuses to learn) and she has to be able to drive it too.
sounds like a good car as long as the price isnt too crazy.
on average trans should be good for 100k or so, maybe more.
is it still under warranty?
some women can be trained to drive stick ymmv.
