Few issues need some guidance/advice
This is about a 1988 Honda CRX w/ a D15B7 Block and Dual Point Fuel Injection.
The car isn't mine, but belongs to a neighbor's daughter. I've been working to help get it fixed since she can't afford a shop and has a daughter.
The boyfriend has no knowledge and actually makes matters worse when he tries to help.....
When I became involved the car had an obvious blown head gasket (dumping water out the exhaust) so of course I started there.
We ordered an Evergreen Head Gasket set and Timing Belt Kit along with a Stant Thermostat and NGK Plugs.
The head was milled and I cleaned the block with scotchbrite pads. Now here is where it gets interesting.
After I had it apart and finished the head the boyfriend had a friend come by and decided to "put it back together". I hadn't finished cleaning the block yet nor had I cleaned any debris out of the cylinders.
Fortunately it was never started. The head bolts weren't torqued, the alignment dowels weren't installed, etc...
So apart it came again and got a new head gasket (Fel-Pro cheap one) and new intake gasket. During there little re-assemble they managed to lose one of the alignment dowels so it got 2 new ones and they managed to lose one of the intake nuts and one of the exhaust nuts. Plus the head and crank were not lined up (as I said, it fortunately wasn't started). How they managed to lose the dowel and nuts I don't know since they were all in a ziplock bag from the machine shop................
After disassembling it again and cleaning the debris out of the cylinders and finishing up the cleaning of the block I reassembled it and torqued it all back together. I started it up prior to putting the Crank Pulley back on to make sure it would start.
After finishing the reassemble, which included a new crank woodruff key, it is making a loud ticking sound from the crank pulley area.
A few things to note, first the crank pulley tool for Honda's rented by the auto parts store wouldn't work on this crank. Second this is a D15B7 Block and head installed in an '88 CRX so the block/head are definitely from '92 to '95 but the intake, exhaust, etc... appear to be for an '88 CRX.
After looking over the service manual, etc... it almost seems like someone used the original D15B7 Crank Pulley "BOLT" with the D15B1 (CRX) Crank Pulley. The difference being the D15B1 had a washer, while the D15B7 had a washer built into the bolt. Could this be part of the problem? Could it also be the wrong key as I purchased one (other one didn't appear to be there) for an '88 CRX and not for a D15B7.
Ok, now onto the next issue - the cooling fan is not coming on. This could be a relay (already checked the fuse). I've been trying to decide which one of the connectors on the back of the block is for the fan so I can reach in there, unplug it, and jumper it to test and locate the problem (sending unit, relay, or fan).
The last issues are the AC doesn't work, but I need to replace an O-Ring, reconnect the evaporator core, and then vacuum it before I can get any advice on that. And finally the driver's side window crank (manual) seems to be jammed up in some way. The boyfriend wrenched on it hard enough that he destroyed the gears on the door side of the crank. I know what it's going to take to deal with that, but what else should I have on hand to fix that window?
Thanks in advance.

I have run the stock 89 crank pulley on a d15b7 without issues. I would open the lower cover and inspect.
The window is going to be fun to find a regulator for, afaik junk yard parts are all that exist.
I would tell the owner and the boyfriend that your help is contingent on him NOT touching the car for any reason.

So I'm guessing it's the window regulator (note this a DX with manual windows). I was suspecting that, just a headache.
And yeah, already have laid down that law. lol I'm not going to correct his mistakes again.
