Alright so I recently bought a z6 intake manifold with injectors and all sensors to replace the y7 one that my car originally had on my z6 block and head. Is it fine to use the 190cc injectors the y7 had on the z6 fuel rail or should I convert the clips and use the 240cc z6 injectors? I noticed when flooring it my car stumbles with no check engine light so I was thinking its not getting enough fuel. What do you guys think?

 

I think you're crazy, and should stop fiddling until you know what you're doing. Match the injectors to the ECU. If you have a DX/LX ECU, you need to use DX/LX injectors.

 

I did an obd2a to obd1 conversion and got it all working. I just noticed that the y7 clips fit perfectly and didn't match the z6 ones so I used the y7 ones due to time constraints. But will using the z6 ones yield better performance? The z6 injectors match the p28 I'm using

 

It shouldn't even be a question now that it's been laid out for you. As you've stated you now basically have a complete OBD1 Z6 in your car which uses 240cc injectors in stock form. Switch them out and post back your results.

 

Planning on it! Just need to swap the clips since they're different. But could this be why my car bogs under heavy acceleration?

 

You currently have a lower fuel injector flow rate, think about it. The ECU can only compensate so much.

On the off chance you are still experiencing the same issues after you swap injectors then post up and we can all help trouble shoot.

 

Also it's important to note. When you go WOT, it's not using the O2 sensor, instead just uses the maps of the ECU. Those maps were built on specific injectors, so it assumed keeping a certain timing cycle will produce X amount of fuel. Using lesser injectors the ECU isn't going to keep the injectors open any longer when WOT as it's not using the O2 for fuel trim at that point.

It's basically in autopilot when WOT from what has been explained to me. O2 sensor fuel trim is typically 60% throttle or less. Engine loads play a role in it too.

This is also the reason why tuning is so critical when you make modifications to an engine away from stock (big cams, change of intakes, exhaust changes). The ecu is programmed to the hardware, changing the hardware doesn't change the ECU programming, only tuning does that.
