Can't get Type R trans back together
So i've been trying to get my transmission back together for hours. I replaced the countershaft with a b16 complete shaft as my second gear was gone.
I've got a 1 in gap all around. Ive tried bench shifting, beating, jiggling and wiggling in every possible direction and nada. I even disassembled the trans again and still nothing.
HELP
What tips/tricks do you folks have for me?

do you have pics of the tranny without the cover to see how everything is sitting.
a buddy had same issue, turned out the case had a bearing shell, so it would have a 1" gap

I had that issue the first time I tore apart the trans to replace that same bearing. It wanted to stick to he case. Thats not my issue as the bearing is staying on the main shaft now. I've watched that video as well. Non of the techniques worked.
Edit: Whats with the transmission in that picture? It looks either inverted or its a d series. Looks weird.

Step 1. Remove the complete B16 countershaft assembly.
Step 2. Order a new CS 2nd gear from Honda or Acura.
Step 3. Install the new 2nd gear on the original CS assembly.
Step 4. I'll answer the original question once you've done the above.
Gears develop wear patterns with each other, mixing used gears is only going to cause you more problems.

There is about a half inch from the snap ring to the top if the bearing on the countershaft. This morning I tried what was suggested; removing one compionent at a time until it seated. I removed:
Shift change assy
Reverse shifter and gear/shaft
"C" shafts on 1-2, 3-4 and 4-5
Bearing at top of main shaft
And I gave up. Plan now it to take everything to the head tech at the local Acura dealership and have him work some magic. Otherwise there are a few manual transmission on ebay that I may have to buy since theyve been tested and are 'working'

With me, it was from not putting enough assembly lube into the outer case for the tops of the 3 shift forks. I still had to wiggle the outer case and row the shifter until the outer case dropped.
Let us know what the head Acura mechanic says!

Its been a few days since I got the trans to Acura and back into the car. The trick that got the transmission was putting it in 4th and spinning the mainshaft while tapping the case halves together.
We ended up putting the original countershaft in as I had already replaced the reverse slider. My second gear synchro and spring were in better condition than B16 stuff I was going to put in.The 1-2 and 4-5 shift forks were replaced. I still have the pop out/grind issue and was told that the issue could be the linkage or shift change assembly.
For now i'm done pulling and reinstalling this thing. Next time it comes out for service its either being rebuilt properly or replaced.
Thank you everyone for your help
