What's up with this extra ribboned on board that seems to be added to the ecu?

 

Factory Knock Sensor Board.

That particular ECU has been socketed and chipped as well.

 

That's what the extra board is?

I guess no way to really tell what's on the chip?

 

You could take the chip out and download it.
But I assume you don't have the equipment to do that or you wouldn't ask.
