Default Temp Gauge acting weird voltage regulator ???

So i was driving my car to work yesterday on the freeway my temp gauge started to go up and randomly go back down once i stop the car i rev the car up a few times and everytime i would hit the gas the temp gauge would go up and drop back to normal temp once i let off.like if the temp gauge was my RPM so i went home remove the Thermasta and its still doing the same thing. I currently have a bad Voltage Regulator can this be causing this issues since i been having my headlights and radio go out im wondering if its causing my gauge yo trip out
