Default 92 vx Gauge Cluster issues

The gauge cluster in my civic has been working intermittently for the past 3 years or so. It started as just the speedometer jumping to 110 mph then going all the way around to the bottom of resting peg and staying there all the time. About once every 100 miles or so it will start working normally until you turn the car off then it goes back to not working. Now the tachometer has started acting up also. It will fluctuate between 1400-2000 regardless of what the engine is doing. A couple months ago I pulled the cluster and cleaned all the connections then put it back in. It worked great for a little more than a week and now I am right back where I started. All the other lights and gauges still work.

Not sure about the tach but the circuit board on back of sped meter is either going bad or needs to be resoldered

Is this what you're referring to, to solder?

No not really. you have to disassemble the cluster to see the circuit card

no the "circuit card" is whats pictured in the pic above. it's a flexible plastic mounted on the back. its not a ridged fiberglass like most circuit boards are. there small boards inside for the SRS light (yellow plug) and the upshift light (white plug.)

No he has to disassemble the cluster if he wants to fix the problem. The flexicrap on the back is just interconnect wiring for the external plugs

The post I linked above shows the circuit board of the speedo.

I had to replace it when my speedo acted just like OP's. Since I've swapped the board, the speedo and odometer/tip meter work perfectly.
