95 Civic - no dashlights no cranking or anything
Here it is. Just changed heater core. Reinstalled dash, steering column back in place, positive I have all wires connected. Put in the key and turn, no dashlights no cranking or anything. Horn and 4 way flashers work. Not working are the turn signals, wipers, power door locks. power mirrors or radio. Also the alarm does not chirp when pressing the remote. It was working at the start of this job. Also a fully charged battery is in place. Sure would appreciate any help to solve this. should also mention its a 95 Civic EX
well ive found I have 0 volts at the in dash fuseblock where the big white wire is that goes to the ign switch. Traced it back to a blown 80 amp fuse in the underhood fuse block. Have to replace it tomorrow and try again. when I first tried to start the car I assumed the battery was dead and jump started it. It pulled a big load for about 3 seconds when I hooked up the cables. Im hoping that's what blew the fuse. After that I checked the battery and had 8 volts. Checked and found 2 dry cells. Put in distilled water and charged battery. Now showing 13-14 volts with no load. Does anybody think that big load when jumping is what blew the fuse? It pulled the RPM's in the jumping vehicle from about 1200 down to about 500 Im guessing.
Thanks everybody.
Thanks everybody.
I've had a similar problem before and turns out (in my case anyway) not having the steering column fully bolted into place was causing it not to start. My only clue was that I saw it arc once from the brace underneath the column when I was trying to crank it. Guess that was my missing ground or something attached to it.
