K20 Automatic Transmission AWD
Hello all I have a 2001 japan Honda stream all wheel drive this car matches up to the Acura RSX the original transmission #2PNEOA5 when bad so I bought a transmission from a company out of Texas that enquire about engine the car uses I told then its a K20 they told me they have 1 k20 AWD automatic transmission Model # MCXA-1002639 but they did not have the ECU; they advise me to change all the sensor out of my old transmission into there transmission and I would have no problem. Upon receiving the transmission I bolted it up to the engine I realized that the front and back mounts were position differently so I had to take the car to the machine shop to manufacture two brackets to get it fitted. I also changed out all the sensors as recommended by the JDM sales person. Now for the test drive, the car drove ok at low speed but if a press the accelerator hard the transmission would stuck in first gear and then the D light would start to flash. So I now need to know which Car uses the MCXA-1002639 transmission is from as I believe the gear ratio is different on this transmission causing the ECU to put the transmission into safety mode. I call back the JDM sales person but they could not say which car this transmission is from. I did a google search and could not find the MCXA tranny
After doing some deep research I was able to find out that the MCXA transmission is out of Russia and it comes out of a Honda accord CL8 type body now I need to cross it with an American Acura or Honda that would use this all wheel drive transmission and give the ECU a try
I hook up my scanner to the car today I found out some interesting things.
#1 I found out the automatic transmission is a 5 speed so I borrow my friends Honda stream 5 speed ECU and the car shift gear smoother; however it still stuck into 1st gear if I press the accelerator too hard at first. So I decided to monitor the countershaft speed sensor and the main shaft speed sensor while driving and notice that when the car stuck in first gear is because the main shaft sensor is loosing signal. Do you think its the ECU needs changing or is it the speed sensor?
